Cinnamon rolls recipe
Ingredients
Dough
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 Tbsp dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 cups flour
Filling
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tbs ground cinnamon
Vanilla creamcheese glaze
250g creamcheese
2 1/2 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
Instructions
- Heat your milk in the microwave.(don't make it to hot or else the yeast wont activate). Add your sugar and yeast. Mix until well combined. Cover and set aside until it activates. You will notice that it will start to get foamy and brown.
- Once the yeast is foamy, add eggs, butter, vanilla extract and flour .
- Mix with an electric mixer with a dough attachment until it forms a ball of dough. If you don't have such machine, no worries simply mix by hand with a wooden spoon.
- Transfer your dough to your counter sprinkled with flour and knead it until it is nice and smooth (about 6-8 minutes)
- Place your dough in a large grease bowl, cover with plastic wrap and a towel and set aside until the dough doubles in size for about 1 hour.
- Once it as risen, punch the dough once in the middle to release the air.
- Cover your working area with a little bit of flour and roll your dough into a rectangular shape.
- Spread the butter evenly on top of your entire dough with a cooking brush.
- In a medium size bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix until well combined. Sprinkle on top of your buttered dough making sure that the entire surface is covered.
- Roll your dough into a log and cut to equal pieces. To have the perfect cut you may use dental floss.
- Transfert the rolls onto a greased baking dish. Cover them with plastic wrap and let them rise for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven at 350F
- Bake them for 20-25 minutes until they are golden.
- In a medium size bowl combine, creamcheese, butter, vanilla, powdered sugar and milk and mix until no more lumps.
- Drizzle on top of each roll once they are warm.
