Dulce de leche is basically a tasty sweet milk jam that ressembles caramel. It is a confection prepared by slowly heating sweetened milk. It is so yummy and perfect for your desserts. You may use this jam in so many different ways, from spreading the jam to your toast or filling your cakes, cupcakes or even macarons, the ideas or endless. Simply follow my step by step instructions and see how easy it is the make this wonderful dessert.

Peel the label off the sweetened condensed milk can.
Place your can on the side into a deep pot. (it needs to be deep enough to allow you to cover the can with 1 to 2 inches of water.) Poor in water making sure it covers your can completely. (at least 1-2 inches above it). Bring the water to a boil and then lower the temperature to have a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for at least 2 hours. VERY IMPORTANT that you watch the water level and add water if it becomes below the top of the can. Do not let the water drop below the level of the can. (because it could explode from the lid. That is why I place my can on its side)
When the can has completely cooled off, remove the lid and pour your dulce de leche into a bowl. Enjoy your sweet product!
